Monopoly Round 2- DAD IS DEFEATED!

Heather, Dad, and I played Monopoly Saturday night and my dad is no longer champion. It was a long game, but the end result was worth it!

Now or never

That's what Heather and I were thinking Saturday night. We've been talking about camping out for so long and we just decided to do it! So when we got outside and there was snow, did that stop us? No way!
Well it only makes sense to sleep out on the coldest night we've had so far. Ring a bell, Jess?

Heather's computer is a chick magnet.

Don't tell it, but we just use it for the webcam.

You're as coooold as ice!

Heather: Ummm I act like a 6 year old all the time!
Me: I have hay hair.

JESS - HUNGRY.

I've discovered that my face is strangely NOT symmetrical.
I'm vain.

Great Falls and Barn Dance Bummer

After the craft fair we decided to go to Great Falls. It was a beautiful day and not being outside would be the biggest waste of life. So, Julia got directions, we got in the car, and went. Almost reaching our destination, it occured to me 'The destination for these directions isn't the park...' Me: "Julia, did you get directions to Great Falls Park or Great Falls, VA??"
Julia: ummm...
Me: Call Reece to get directions
Julia: (on the answering machine) REEEECEEEE! PICK UP THE PHOOOONNNNEEE
Heather: what's going on?
We ended up stopping at a Safeway and saw some Boyscout Troop leaders. Heather and I asked them where the park was and we found it no problem. On the way there, we saw a sign that said "Barn Dance Tonight!" Ooooh we must check it out. But first, the park!

Heather: Shouldn't we bring water? We go inside looking for waterbottles. All of them smell bad, so we fill up this pitcher and bring it along.
Heather: Are we really going to carry this around with us?
We leave it on my car.

I know, the sweater is hot.

Julia may have a shot at modeling... Heather on the other hand... maybe acting? hmmm let's watch the video and then decide?

On the way back home, we stopped at the house that said "Barn Dance Tonight" We pull into the driveway, a dog comes up to us, we get out and meet the owner. We ask if it's open to the public. It is, but it's $50 a head. It's for charity. She shows us the barn that they transformed into a dancing area, with a stage for a band. The place looked awesome. It was a big bummer, but fun to see that stuff like that still happens.

Craft Fair

Every year at FCHS, there's a craft fair. This year there were over 70 vendors. Jewelry, hats, piggy banks, baked goods, natural healing remedies, scrap booking, bows, peanuts, raffle tickets, and more!

My dad's the booster president, and here you see him charming the ladies as usual. Way to go, Dad! One of my dad's specialties is the 50/50 raffle. You buy a ticket for a dollar, and if your number is pulled, you get half of whatever was raised. So when my dad got home he called the winner and said "you've won! It's 16 dollars!" I mean, that's not a lot but hey, I'd take it!

Every year there is SO much chili and this year was no exception. So what did we do? We ate it of course. I've never been to a chili competition, but I had such a hard time choosing which one I wanted to eat.

Yum, yum, yum. We helped deliver food to the vendors who ordered some (We = Julia, Reece, Heather, and I. Although I won't take credit, they did a lot more work than I did) Not pictured is a very excited asian girl holding up a sign that said "Peanuts" pointing to the orchestra booth. Man, do I miss those days... not really.

I bought a keychain and some magnets from a boy I went to high school with. He has muscular dystrophy but is able to draw. So now I got rid of the stupid key chain I had that said "If a woman's place is in the house, why am I always in the car?" haha. that one was already on it when I bought my car.

VMI vs. W&L

A few weekends ago, we went down to VMI to see them play lacrosse against W&L.

Tailgating after the game. Keith's host family, our family, and Chris and Riley. Good eatin' I tell you!

Driving to VMI. Stuck in traffic.

Let the video do the explaining.

Shallow Weiners

Happy Halloween yesterday. We had a backyard cookout and bonfire. Hot dogs, s'mores, a "haunted woods", light sticks, and "ghost stories" (AKA Julia telling a cheesy joke and my dad telling his riddles). My coworker Dawn teaches ESOL students at NOVA and invited them over. One did and he brought a friend. We played frisbee, and they roasted a hot dog for the first time. (The point was for them to experience American culture. We're going to invite them over for Thanksgiving dinner and possible the Christmas pageant at church. So fun.) So it was a wide range of people: my mom's friends, some random elementary school kids who love her, Dawn Soap and her student, us Long kids, Heather Stilts, and Leslie Graham Cracker. Then 20 of Reece's friends came over after FC won the bell! Oh and Jess Mauck! It was fun, I wreaked of smoke, and today I'm sick because of it (does that ever happen to you??!)
Leslie and I with glowsticks!

JMauck was in town!

Enjoying the fire.

Westlawn Elementary Schoolers came back saying "MS. LOOOOONG! HAPPY HALLOWEEN MS. LOOOONNNG!" I want to be like my mom someday.
